Default Smoke or steam or ....

Hey Folks,
Hoping y'all can help me out. every now and again I see smoke or steam or something coming from under my hood. I can never find the exact location because once I get pulled off to the side it's stopped.
My temperature gauge never goes past center. All my fluids are holding steady, and there's no smell that would suggest anything.
Has anyone experienced something like this? Have an idea of what it could be?

Any chance it's raining, or is cool and humid, when this happens?

It's definitely more noticeable in the cold and/or rain. It's not thick enough to see if it's occurring when it's warm out... at least not that I've noticed.

In that case, I'm going to say water hitting the hot radiator vaporizes, then as it leaves the vicinity of the radiator, it condenses in the cooler air, showing as a fog. It's noticeable because the fan is not on all the time.

It happens to mine when the conditions are just right.

It happens to mine also. Nothing to worry about.

I was just informed by a local dealer that my radiator cap is failing and they can replace it for 28 dollars...only a 700% markup...no thanks.

That's just parts and not labor.
