Default Snapped door bolt. :(

I have a 2013 JKUR and recently was reinstalling the doors and snapped the bottom bolt on the rear passenger door. I don't feel like I over cranked it, but it snapped.

Anyone know what my options are to replace it?

Thanks!

I did the exact same thing last week, the bolt still had a space showing when it snapped.

They are just extra work anyway. I took mine off a long time ago and don't plan on putting them back on.

Forgot about those bolts. Threw them out on day one.

I'm confused. Do you mean you snapped the pin that extends down into the hole on the Jeep from the door hinge, thus you can't securely mount the door? Or that you broke a nut that screws into that pin from the bottom? If just the latter, then, yeah, you don't need them. Haven't used mine in over seven years. If the former, you'll need to buy a new door hinge pin.

Mark,

I snapped off the end of the hinge pin. Seems to be about an 1/8 to a 1/4 of an inch. Sound like it's not terribly critical. The bummer about replacing the hinge pin seems to be cutting the paint seal at the top of it thus exposing the hinge steel which could lead to rust.

Do any of you guys that leave the bolts off have any problems with rust on the hinge pin? I live in Chicago and we get brutal, salt filled winters.

Thanks!

I snapped one too, seems the bolts aren't a necessity.

Just the threaded end? I would leave it alone.

No problem not having mine in. They were one of the first things taken off the jeep. Last winter was rough here, well for VA, but no problems. I just applied some grease every once and a while when they came off and never had a problem.

I went down to my local hardware store and got some plastic thread covers to cover the threaded part of the pins. I lube the pins with marine grade grease and after so many years I have not had any trouble with rust or doors sticking..
Good luck
