Soft Top Leaks Anyone?

I have had my JK 4 dr. since Tuesday.

Today, rain in NJ, I notice that both driver and passenger doors are leaking on the top front corners, right above the door handles. Anyone have a similar experience? I'm taking it to the dealer tomorrow to take a look at, but any info ahead of time would be much appreciated!

Thanks.

Yes, several here have had a problem with it, myself included. Mine was put at bay with cleaning the chanel/window area. but it still does it from time to time. Please let us know how it works out for you!

P.S. there are several threads on this as well, i will try to find a few to reference you to.

Edit:

My wife works for a lemon law attorney in New Jersey and she deals only with Chrysler. There are alot of leak issues with the soft top and some of the dealers have some crazy fixes. One unnamed dealer went as far as putting silacone sealer all over the top effectivelly sealing the top shut.

Mine's done this since new. In addition, mine drips down inside the plastic cover on the A-pillar and then dumps into the side window defrost vent in the dash (driver's side). The third dealer that worked on it has reduced the leaks but they are far from gone. Good luck. :naw:

i adjusted the striker plate on the b pillar... set it in a few millimeters and the door will seat significantly tighter!

So far, adjusting the striker plate has:

1. Lessened the rattles with the door bolts out
2. Stopped the water leak

Also... keep the rubber seals clean and the mating surface of the top/jeep clean.

Also... make sure that if you took the plastic door frames/surrounds off, that when you re-seat them the rubber seal on the A and B pillars seat around them... they have a tendency to be smashed or folded under the plastic frame

oh yeah.. and it still leaks in a hard rain... bot as much though

My X is about a month old and I just had this issue for the first time today even after it sat in heavy rain previously. It looks like it's leaking from the top of the B pillar. There is a open space where the top flap velcros over the side window. My wife had my Jeep today so I couldn't see it first hand. I don't know if it was blowing just right or what.

What do you mean by the striker plate on the B pillar? I'll give it a shot if you point me in the right direction!

Has anyone else attempted to fix this problem themselves?

Thanks!

The striker is in the front door jam where the door lock latches to the body. The stricker plate is the silver plate on the body with torx heads. You loosen the torx and move in slightly to make the seals on the door tighter. Also make the door pull in more. I would take pictures but my wife has our Jeep and there is not Jeep on the floor at our autobody shop.:)

You can also bend the top of the door in, but thats at a last resort.

I figured thats what you were talking about....

So basically loosen it up and move it slightly up and slightly in (towards the middle of the car?

Seems fairly simple.

Do I have this correct?
