Default Soft top rear window quest

I have an 07 4 dr and I am wondering if my rear window is suposed to zip completely out like the side rear windows do or only fold down having to stay on the rail it slides into on the bottom of the window. And that is a hell of a run on sentence .

It is supposed to come out completely. Unzip both zippers toward the drivers side. The first time I tried, it wouldn't come off no matter how hard I budged. I took it the dealer and they said the zipper was misaligned from the factory big time. Before you unzip it check to make sure the two silver zipper guides on the bottom left match up. It still will be hard the first time, but it get easier and easier the more you do it, like most things in life I guess.

Hey have you had a problem with the left zipper coming completely off. Mine has done it twice. Just the two silver ends there. then the zipper starts to open and the only way to get it to line back up is to take the right zipper go all the way over to the left like you are goin to take it off and then zip it back up. I took it to the dealer yesterday and he compared mine with a brand new one so he could write it up to either replace the rear window or the whole top. No such luck. He said that there was nothing wrong with it that I just needed to be careful when I unzip the window.

This happened to me when I was attempting to zip the back window closed. I am just careful when zipping and unzipping the rear left side.

Another victim of the same problem here. The dealership had an apprentice go over the first installation of the soft top with me. He put on the back window. A few days later, I went to take off the rear window and could not get it unzipped all the way. I looked at the end and it looked like the tab at the end was broken off and only two staight metal pieces remained. Why wouldn't the rear window have the same zipper as the side windows?
After reading the posts above, guess I'll just have to keep at it. Hopefully, without breaking the zipper.

Nohing is missing from your zipper. The Two metal pieces are all that you need. As some other above stated, it is possible to mis align to two zipper halves enough so that it is hard to get the zipper to disengage. The reason it is not built like the side windows? The double zipper lets you unzip the verticle leg of the back window on each side, using the horizontal part of the zipper like a hinge. It will also support the weight of the rolled window if you use the straps to rool window & leave it hanging in the back.

That does make sense. Maybe, I'll leave the window in and just roll it up when taking the top down.

When putting yoru tops down, do any of you just roll up the rear window, put the two bands to hold it up, and fold the top down with the rear window attached, rolled up. I've been doing it this way, and it doesn't seem to have adverse effects, and is MUCH easier than removing the whole back window.

I did that yesterday, because I had no choice. I wanted the top down, but couldn't get the window off. I'll probably keep doing it that way even if I do eventually get the rear window unzipped.
