It's a lot louder.....

However, in my case I only put up the soft top if rain is an imminent threat. So, loud and windy is how I usually drive it in the summer.

The soft top doesn't insulate heat much, so the A/C works harder and is less effective. To get the max cooling possible, recirculate the pre-cooled air (push the other button, to the right side of A/C button).

Maybe it's me, but driving a doorless, open-air vehicle is one of the big motivators for buying a Wrangler.

My wife whined that it would be too windy the first time I pulled off the whole Freedom Top. I looked at her and said, "then stay home." She relented and came with me. To her surprise, she liked it. A few months later, she went online and bought a Trektop for the Jeep as a birthday gift for me. Now, if it's not too cool out, she prefers the top down.

To quote Popeye.... "Wimans is more trouble than a Jeep."

Of course, Popeye meant this Jeep....

Louder than the hard top, yes. Louder than previous model soft tops, no. The JK has a much quieter top than any of the earlier soft tops.

Consider using the soft top for the summer! I put my hartop into storage and the reduced weight is as good as an extra 10hp or more.
Bump on this one.

I got mine with a hardtop only thinking I would never need a soft top... boy was I wrong!

Take the hardtop off and then rinse/repeat this a few more time due to weather.

After you done, I am 99% sure you will wanna put the softie on and store the hardtop till it gets cold again.

The softie also does NOT require a friend every time you wanna go topless...

I find the whole top off to be less windy than just the freedom panels off.

When I do just the panels I leave the rear gate up and that cuts down the wind a ton.

I agree 100% about doorless... never thought I would do this till I tried it for sh*ts and giggles... AWSOME... ordered the mirror relocation brackets a few days later.

This past week I had my wife, 4 year old son, and both her 65+ year old parents in the jeep with the top and doors off... everybody LOVED it

After the first few comments telling me to try it with the soft top, I thought no way. Now after several more, I mentioned what doubleusn did with the top down and the doors off to my wife, and she said that would be like our Polaris RZR. That's wide open and we have a ball in it. She thinks we should try it a few times and see what we think. It is beginning to sound like fun to too.

Thanks.........I guess!

Louder than the hard top, yes.

But one note - not that much louder. I switched out my Sahara 18" Duellers last night for 17" BFG MT's off a Rubi and the noise from the tires far outweighs wind noise.

I found the soft top surprisingly quiet with the Duellers.

Amen Baby! G Friend has a pita in the summer hard top and is jealous as hell I can drop my top at will in about 2 mins. Keep the hard top and run soft in summer. You won't regret it!

I have the Bestop Supertop and I do get increased noise in the cab. It's noticable but not extreme. I'm very satisfied with my soft-top other than a leak above the passenger side door.
