Default Spiderweb shade Ultramesh or Trailmesh

I'm about to purchase a spiderweb shade for my JKUR but can't decide on trailmesh or ultramesh (and of course can't find either locally).
Do any of you with the trailmesh feel likes it's too thick, like you lose the open feeling?
What about you ultramesh guys, do you ever regret buying the thinner material?
I'm in northeast Tennessee sooooo I'm not exactly fighting the desert sun but do have a 1 year old in the back and a balding head in the drivers seat.
Thoughts?
Thanks guys

Subscribed. I'm purchasing one of these soon too and interested in what people say about the difference.

I have the ultra mesh and love it. It still blocks a lot of sun yet doesn't feel closed in. Real easy to put on and take off.

I bought the ultra mesh last year and I love it. It takes out the baking factor of the sun. You still get the open feel and you can take it off pretty easily. One of the best mods to date!

I got the thicker one and did not lose any of the openness feeling. Actually, I got it mostly for my wife. It blocks the Sun and wind well but still keeps the open feeling for me. ;-)

I went with the trail mesh, I like it still has the "open" feel and cuts down in the blistering sun.

had the spiderweb shade and didn't like the gaps it left around the sides. sun always shined right thru the gaps and into my eyes. I know it's a convertible jeep but I bought it for shade

Agree with all the positive comments about the trail mesh. At night, however, it is more opaque. Feels more like a solid after dark. On the positive side, it is very tough. I often stand on the rear bumper and raise the top by myself. The header latches have hit the trail mesh quite a few times. Not a scratch.

i have the trail mesh on both my unlimited top cover and the cargo cover
have had the top cover on for a year now
love it
the trail isn’t that much more cost than the ultra but has a 4 yr longer warranty
I’ve heard there is no visible light difference btwn the two (from the guys at spidershade)

buy extra spiderballs to keep it tight over time
