Default Spontaneous Horn?

So my Jeep's outside, all day Sunday, in the rain. But nothing harder than usual.
Monday morning, no rain, and I go out to put my daughter's daycare bag in the back seat. I open the driver's side back door and...

My horn starts honking! And not intermittent, but one long note!

So it's early, I jump in, start it, figuring it might kill the noise. But no, it keeps going. So I put it in reverse, and a few seconds later, it stops. Then a few minutes later, with daughter in tow, I go to beep my horn upon leaving, a little good-bye, and no horn!

So after about two miles, im frustrated, thinking about checking fuses, going to the dealer, etc., and I tap the horn, and it works.

Since then, no issues.

Am I the only one to have stared this gremlin in the eye?

same thing happened to me! My Jeep was left in the rain with the top down...next day go to beep the horn and nothing....next thing I know I'm drivin' behind an elderly man and it starts going off like I'm laying on the thing...gave the poor guy a heart attack! Went off and then pulled into a parking lot and decided to go off again....banged the steering wheel and went off.....

Dried out and now works fine...no problems since.

Default Mine Too

I had the same thing happen this week. It rained in the Jeep. The horn started going off for no apparent reason, but would always turn off with the key alarm reset button. Then, at 4:am, it went off and would not shut off. I finally pulled the battery cable to shut it up. When I reconnected everything, I have power everywhere but it won't start. I have reset the alarm, pulled the IOD fuse, checked all the fuses, but nothing. I finally broke down this morning and had it towed to the dealership. Will let you know what they say.

Default Verdict?

Well, I finally got my Jeep back from the dealership yesterday. They kept it for three days and told me their techs could not find the problem. They consulted with the "Chrysler Engineering Team" who worked on the problem for two days. They manually traced all the wiring and found no problems. They finally called me yesterday and told me my Jeep was ready. The final verdict was "a blown fuse." There were no blown fuses when I took it in. I personally checked every fuse, not once but twice. I don't know what the problem was and apparently, they don't either, but my Jeep is running and I have not had any problems yet with the alarm going off. (Knock on wood.)

This Just happend to me today

not once but twice

it seems to be related to rain as water gets shoved in the engine compartment and maybe the cause of this

man I feel awkward when it goes off infront of people

i had the same thing after it rained with the top down, i came to the conclusion that water got into the steering wheel and was making a false connection with the horn contacts
