Default Steering stabilizer replacement

Hello, I have a 2007 Jeep Wrangler jk 2 door. The factory steering stabilizer started to leak so I'm replacing it with a JKS stabilizer. I'm having trouble removing the bolt on the passenger side with the weird nut on it. I probably sound like an idiot but I have never seen anything like it in my life and an relatively new at working on vehicles and trying to learn. Thanks for the help!

I thought I attached one last night when I posted this bit I guess it didn't work. I'll take on when I get home this afternoon. I might be able to find a picture of it on Google, if I do I'll link it. Thank you!

That's not an OEM bolt or mounting bracket. That kit comes from Dominion Offroad. The weird nut you refer to is actually a wing nut. That "wing" is there to keep that nut from rotating when you rotate the actual bolt (on the top). It will flop around and stop the nut from turning any further. Just keep turning the bolt and it will come out while the wing holds the nut from rotating. If that wing wasn't there, you'd have to put a wrench on both the bolt head and the nut. Does that make sense?

If it's rusted up, then spray it down with something like P'blaster and give it a bit of time to soak in.

To improve access to the bolt, turn the steering wheel to move the linkage to provide clearance.

+1 for the wingnut.....actually much nicer than a regular nut since you don't have to hold it at all.....it will hold itself once it hits the other side!

I greatly appreciate it guys! I figured that out after doing some more research and me and my friend sprayed it with some pb blaster and cranked on it a bit and she loosened up.

"Wing nut" is a term that I've seen used in aftermarket install literature, so that's why I used it (though "flag nut" is more correct, if "more correct" is possible or relevant) ...
