Stock Rubi Shocks VS Stock X Shocks

I was just wondering what is the difference between the stock unlimited X shocks and stock unlimited Rubi shocks? Pro's and con's? Can I just bolt these on my X or do I need other suspension parts?

Thanks,
Matt

Rubi shocks are stiffer due to them being gas charged.. They are the same otherwise. Don't let anyone tell you they are longer. They are not. They will bolt on just fine. There is no difference in the suspension. It will all retrofit.

They're really not,:nono: I just wanted to tell you they were.:tomato:

I just bought a set of Rubi shocks from JFRITZ (another member) and installed the rears yesterday. I couldn't get the fronts off of mine, the nut was stuck and wouldn't budge so I'm gonna pay someone a few bucks to swap the fronts out. There is a HUGE difference in the stiffness though...the X shocks I just took off I can compress with ONE hand. The Rubi shocks are tough to compress with BOTH hands and all my weight.

Hopefully I'll get the fronts installed this weekend.

the main difference is rubi shocks are gas and X shocks are hydro. Ride is different with both. X shocks are a softer ride. I prefer a hydro vs a gas shock.

According to some sources, the X gets gas shocks with the 17" wheel upgrade too. I think they are low-pressure, vs. the Rubicon having high-pressure. If someone with a base X has a part number on their shocks I will compare with my old ones in the garage to see if they are the same or not. I agree with you regarding the ride. I just don't see the need for a stiff shock on a Jeep. It's not like you're racing the thing, right?

My fronts were 52126811AB
Rears were 52126851AB

I guess they are different with the 17" wheels.:) The sticker also says "Oil and gas under high pressure."
