Default Storage?

I am going to have to let my 2009 JK sit parked for about six months. Any idea what I need to do so I don't damage anything? Thanks in advance.

I would consider a good battery maintainer which can be had for about $20 at Walmart. Avoid harbor freight ones as my brother had several of those fail. Also, make sure you put stabilizer in the gas and run it through the engine for a bit. The stabilizer needs to specifically say it is for ethanol. There may be differing opinions on this, but I would fill the gas tank all the way up. This will prevent the inside walls of the tank from being exposed to condensation. my neighbor here in central nj leaves two vehicles in his garage for six months every year when he goes to Florida. He has never had a problem.

There is supposed to be a special oil for the engine oil that you should put in. I have never used this, and have deployed twice for over a year. Both times I just changed the oil before and after storage (twice per storage).

Also, you may want to consider jack stands, and removing the tires. Pressure on one spot on tires for so long can cause them to lose shape/effectiveness.

With the tires off, it may be a good idea to deflate them SLIGHTLY, as weather (temperature) changes can effect internal pressure.

If you don't get a battery conserver, then at least disconnect the battery. Once again, did this twice, and it worked fine when I came back after a year later.

Fuel? There is supposed to be an additive that you can put in, but I didn't and my fuel was OK. I did use a fuel/injector cleaner when I returned.

More than that I don't know. It's "only six months" so you shouldn't have to worry too hard. Hope that helps.

You could let one of us drive it until you get back. No really, the pickling oil in the cylinders should do it, there is also some instructions in the manual I thought.

a desecant bag (that may be spelled wrong) for inside the jeep. This absorbs moisture, also moth balls as animals avoid this.

This is what I would do...

Wash and wax, clean the underbody.

Change engine oil and I would change ALL the fluids, such as diff, manual trans and x-case

either put the battery on a GOOD battery maintainer (I like the battery tender, but not the junior), or unhook.

Fill the fuel tank with NON-ethanol fuel and put in Stabil or similiar.

Clean the interior of all trash, fast food wrappers, empty beer cans.

If mice are an issue...A box of mothballs, opened

Close the door behind it and don't worry.

Pesky beer cans! Every time I open my Jeep, they just spill all over the place. Kinda hard to explain to some dude wearing a shirt that says "Police." I guess he thinks he's a cop, or something.
