Default Take off the plastic covers on the tail gate hinges?

Was thinking of taking those plastic covers off the tail gate hinges. The exposed metal would look better. Anyone done this? Is it painted under there?

You may be better off, but paint is pretty thin under the hinges (plainly visible).

I've done it looks great. I'll repaint them someday, maybe never. They come on and off very easily. Try taking them off. Start with taking off the C-portion by lifting up the top part. I'll post pix this weekend.

Guys you don't need pics! Get off your butts, walk out to your jeep and pull it off. Then look at it. If you don't like it, put it back. It just snaps off and back on!

Sorry for the rant.

They just pry off with a screw driver? Will they hold up to salt if they are thin painted?
