Taking Doors Off
Oh, never mind. I bought mine used so I'm assuming this was already done.
learning from everyone's mistakes should make this painless for you.
unscrewing the bolts below the hinges makes taking the doors off much easier.
for the plugs, just push that red thing to the side, squeeze then pull. no need to permanently break them off in frustration.
the doors are easier to carry if you put the windows down. of course you should do this before you unplug them.
the door-catch strap thingy should be the last thing you do when taking them off, and first thing when putting them on. otherwise you WILL dent the jeep. when you take the strap off, keep a hand on the door so it won't swing.
if you're bringing them inside, and have a screen door, make sure you lock it open before you get there with the jeep door in hand(s).
enjoy!

Two more tip for removing the doors. 1. Place the retainer strap and electrical connector in the small storage pocket in the door, this prevents them from being caught between the door and the body when the doors are replaced. 2. Remove the rear view mirrors before removing the doors, this prevents the dents that others have metioned that can occur if the doors swing forward, also they are easier to store and can nest without damage.
Here are some tips I can offer as someone who takes his doors off weekly:
Park on a LEVEL surface when you want to take the doors off. This will hopefully avoid any accidental door dents!
Roll down the windows.
After you remove your Torx bolts and disconnect the wiring harnesses in the footwells, open the doors to a 90 degree angle before removing the doors.
Standing on the outside of the door facing forward (painted side) put your left hand on the bottom lower-left corner of the door (For driver's side, the side closest to the hinge) and with your right hand, reach through the window and grab onto the interior handle. Pull straight up, and the door should lift right off the hinges. If it doesn't come up easily, spray some WD-40 or lubricant of your choice into the bottom of the hinge, and swing the door back and forth to allow the fluid to penetrate the threads. Try lifting again.
Make sure you have a towel, carpet or other soft surface to store your doors on. Setting your door down on the cement can result in a "D'oh!" moment. Don't let that happen to you!
Hope that helps!

Will touch them up with some stone white and do it again next weekend!
Figured i would add another dumb ass move that i just made by myself yesterday taking off my doors. I have taken them off several times with no problems so far. As i was reading this thread on monday i was even thinking to myself that i have done pretty good so far because i managed to not do any of the things warned by others. Sure enough i jinxed myself and after i took off my last door yesterday i set the nuts on my front fender while i set the door down. While i was excited about putting on my new safari mirrors i instantly grabbed the mirror and put it on. So as i was unscrewing something today i remembered that i set the nuts there and never took them off. i walked up and down my street and found nothing. i definitely feel like an ass now and it is only going to be worse when i tell me wife
ya it can be a pain too. mine never came off easy. Had too struggle with the passengers side. Had to move back and forth and finally it would come off.I am thinking of leaving them off and just use the soft top and soft doors for the winter. the heater is great in these jeeps so should not be a problem.I will be sanding down the pins abit and the nylon holes they go into and grease them if I decide to put them back on. I would rather they be a little loose as to make them come off much easier. good luck to you . can't beat going door and topless
that I did when taking my doors off for the first time was to use a piece of cardboard to protect the door's finish when removing the screws. I didn't want to accidentally scratch the paint with the ratchet handle.
