Are these doors even fixable??
 

about 2 years ago i moved into a new house and re-installed my jeep door hangers in the garage. everything was fine for a couple of months until one day i went down to the garage and noticed the hangers had come loose and both jk doors had slipped off and dropped about 3 feet to the cement. how the accident happened isn't really as important as the damage it caused.

both doors still open and close without any problems but neither window would roll up or down and cranking the handle is almost impossible. i actually took the the panel off the passenger side door and was able to semi repair the window - rolls up and down but there is a lot of tension in the handle movement and feels like it could break at any time. the impact from the drop caused the outside of the shell to buckle and create a fairly sizable crease/dent at the bottom of each door.

i understand the door frame is basically toast, but is it possible for someone with auto body repair skills to pull/repair the dents enough to at least make them look undamaged? i probably only have the doors on my jeep for about 3 months a year, so i'm more concerned about looks than i am function/fit. if anyone has any experience with something like this or has any ideas on how to avoid buying new doors i'd be extremely grateful:)

These are totally fixable. However, to do it right they will need repainting and blending on the bottom portions after being straightened back out. I'm not sure what it would cost, but I would totally say it can be fixed.

thanks magic, that's definitely good news. i had one guy look at them a few weeks after the accident and he basically said there wasn't anything he could do to fix them. not sure if he was inexperienced or just lazy. i guess now the hard part is going to be finding somebody who will do the work for a reasonable fee since i can't use my insurance:/ thanks again for your $.02.

No problem. I've seen things that are way worse that get fixed.

Looks fixable, but may be cheaper to get new doors. Very Nast crease in them. And it's right at the edge.

Why can't you use your insurance? If your car insurance won't cover it, your home owner's insurance should cover it.

Yes they can fix them. Will probably take some bondo, and definitely repainting of the whole door, but honestly no biggie

easily fixable. Anyone telling you different doesn't know what they are doing. The window regulators were damaged by the weight of the glasses when they hit the floor. Both will fail rather quickly if you continue rolling them up and down when you reinstall the door.

i guess i should have clarified in the op that the "new house" i moved into was actually my girlfriend's place and i didn't have homeowner's insurance at the time. we actually broke up a few months ago so i had to bounce and move into a new apartment. i have renter's insurance now but i doubt that does me any good. i never even bothered with my auto insurance because i just assumed that since the damage occurred while the doors were off the vehicle they wouldn't be covered.

i guess i'll roll the dice tomorrow and see what my agent has to say. thanks to everybody here that gave me feedback, i probably should have checked with ya'll a long time ago:doh:
