Default tie rod freaking

So I called for new tie rods and the only places that seem to have listings in the dealer and rock auto... the only problem is that even rock autos descriptions do not seem to make sense.... the guy at the dealer said I needed a center link which I understand but where I get lost is that I need that piece and the rod that goes the the knuckle. Am I wrong in calling that an inner tie rod and or the draglink? The other rod that ties the 2 front tires together is fine. The one that has the stabilizer on is very loose. I guess what I am asking is wtf should we call it so I can get this thing fixed and get back on the trail?

If your going to pay for a new tie rod, look at something like the RK tie rod. Worlds stronger.

Not really sure what your problem is though....

Im confused also. I call 4wp and ask for a price on a tie rod end. They ask wich one I tell em the one on the right and they tell me well theres 2 on each side. Wtf? I thaught I had a tie rod and a drag link but apparently they are both called tie rods. So I still havent got a part yet. Havent had time to go down there and point to the one I need n say this one.

Tie rod connects your two tires at the knuckle so they turn together. Drag link is from the pitman arm off the steerin box to the passenger side knuckle...

I don't know why they would be referred to interchangeably, tho I believe they use the same link ends?

I know the RK tie rod uses the threaded stock link used on the drag link at the pitman arm for both ends.

Some one with experience with these parts might want to chime in

So now this is a death wobble question?

If you have true death wobble, please look up planmans diagnosing death wobble thread. Walk thru that, retorque everything, and see were that gets you.

I still don't know what your problem is, or what you are trying to replace. If you could clearly explain that, I could do my best to point you in the right direction...

i have the same issue and am currently looking over planmans post. My tie rod moves up and down very easily (i dont think it used to) i dont believe i have the death wobble as it seems to ride perfectly fine but once i go over a pretty good sized bump the steering wheel shakes left to right very quickly for just a little bit untill it restabilizes. I need to get this fixed asap also. so looks like ill start diagnosing and trying to figure this out. This all happened after i adjusted the tie rod to straighten my front wheels. My steering wheel is just barely off, but that is my next part to fix.

Any Input?

I'm am pretty sure its death wobble here too. On any road it goes straight and true for a while but it shakes and shudders that it feels like its gonna rattle apart. The draglink is very loose. If I push it up and let go it drops down as if nothing is there. I tried to re torque everything but to no avail. So now my next step is to get parts and replace. I hate to but have to go stock I need it on the road.

You should not have had to touch the tierod. Only the drag link to center the steering wheel/tires. Did you add a track drop bracket or new track bar?

I didn't even bother to center my steering wheel after the lift but it was only a 2 inch budget boost. I am worried about the fact that the actual rod that connects the pitman arm to the passenger side knuckle is flopping all over the place. Its bolted in and torqued it but I can lift it up and it drops right back down.
