Default Tire air pressure sensor

Well went and check out the replacement Jk that they are going to trade me for the lemon I have now. Before I went to the dealer I ask if everything was the same as the one I have including the 17" tires and Aluminium rims and they said yes it just like the one you have now. I get over there and the first thing I notice is it has 16's and steel rims. He said he can just transfer my rims and tires over to the new Jeep which sucks I would have like new tires anyway

I got to thinking what about the tire air pressure sensor.
My 07 dose not have this so how do they make them work on the 08?

Is it just a matter of changing the valve stems out or is there more to it?

The TPMS sensors are an integral part of the valve stem. Have them install the sensors in your 07 wheels then set the 08's computer for the correct tire pressure and you should be good to go.

The sensors fit inside the tire and are too big to go through the valve stem hole so you do have to pull the tires off the rim. Photo (Warning: PDF file)

Or if you want you could probably have them just ditch the sensors and flash the computer to disable the TPMS..which I dont think they can do legally, but if you bitch long enough ya never know

I was in the exact same boat as you. I had installed a set of new take off Rubicon wheels and tires on my 2007 Lemon law X, and the new 2008 replacement has the pressure sensors. As was stated in an earlier post, the sensors are easily swapped into the older wheels, but it does require dismounting and re-balancing. This was done at no cost to me.
Good luck,
Bob Merrill
