Default Tire Rotation

This chick at Temecula Jeep told me I should rotate my stock Rubicon tires every 3k miles when I get my oil change. So I do that. I found out that America's Tire Company will rotate them for free or charge 35 dollars for a Rotate/Balance. Most Jeep Dealerships just do the rotation with out the balancing and charge 24 dollars. So no question on where I am going to rotate my tires for free. My question is though how often should I pay the 35 dollars to do the balancing too? Every 3k miles?

I balance tires whenever I buy new tires--or whenever I suspect a tire balance problem because I feel a vibration (usually that would be because I threw a weight off the rim). If you're letting someone else rotate the tires, it's a good idea to mark the tires with chalk and keep an eye that they rotate the tires with a consistent pattern.

x2. I rotate every 3k miles but I don't balance unless I feel something that would make me think I need to (like vibrations or shakes).

I rotate every oil change and balance when they need to be. I can always feel it in the Jeep. Ride gets progressivly crappier, more steering wheel wobble, more shifter waggin back and forth. Balance & rotate and it's ike brand new

X2 ==> but I only change oil and rotate every 5-6k (or 6-months) per the manual. Unless you're doing a lot of severe condition driving or lots of hard wheeling, it seems a little early to service the JK every 3k. (just my opinion, not telling what to do with your Jeep or $)

I own a Medium/Heavy Duty Truck repair shop (10,001 GVW Plus) I have my techs do all the PM's on the JK. I get a rotate and LOF every 4,500miles.

Considering I have access to the equipment on a daily basis...I still only balance them when I notice a problem.

I have debated over the 5 tire rotate or the 4 tire rotate. The factory set of tires which I kept for about 9,500miles I only rotated once and opted for NOT rotating in the spare.
My aftermarket wheels and tires I have only had 5,000 miles...I rotated in the spare this time.

As far as the cost....for $35.00 for rotate and balance, this sounds like a pretty good price, do you have to purchase the tires at America's to have them rotate for free.....

Haven't had to do it yet, but I also will rotate every 3K, seems to be the best way to maximize performance and treadlife for M/T tires. Will balance if anything seems amiss.

I rotate 5 tires every oil change. Did 3k for the 1st 3 oil changes, now 5k oil changes. Balanced as required. At almost 30,000 miles and tires are wearing well.
