Default Too much toe?

I recently replaced a bent tie rod on my JK. To check the toe I measured the distance between the two front tires in the front and rear in the center of the tire. The front was 0.5" less than the rear measurement. Is this too much toe? Will this cause premature tire wear?? Thanks!

Just so we're on the same page, you say you have one half inch of toe? Did you measure with the tires on the ground?

Yes.....one half inch of toe. The tires were on the ground with the steering wheel/wheels centered as best I can (lined up straight with the joint on my garage floor). The Jeep drives pretty good. I do feel a slight vibe here and there but it could be driveshaft or tire balance.

A half inch of toe in is a great deal. If you're really concerned, I would find a reputable alignment shop and have it checked. Remember to request a print out of before and after adjustment.

1/8'' to 3/16'' should be plenty, 1/2'' will wear the edges of your tires off....

It should be noted that measuring the edges of the tire really is not a true measurement. As with larger tires, that measurment gets larger, and it gets smaller with smaller tires. Its the angle of the tire that is what needs to be measured. Which you can do by measuring the front and back, and measuring the diameter of the tire, followed by some basic geometry.
