Default Torque Wrench

Any suggestions on what kind of torque wrench to buy? I'm not a big fan of cheap foreign tools as well.

I got a Craftsman 1/2" drive click style for about $85 and it has worked great for everything under my jeep except very small bolts.

I've had a Sears micrometer wrench for more than 20 years. Still accurate. Be sure to turn the setting back to zero after each use. Have it checked yearly or át least compare to another wrench. I just bought an electronic torque wrench as well. It works well and comes with calibration data insuring accuracy.

FYI....Sears is running a sale on their 1/2" Craftsman torque wrenches right now. $49 bucks....normally $79. If you are club member you get it even cheaper!!

The reviews on that thing are less than awesome. I just picked up a Kobalt one rated to 250 at Lowes with the same lifetime warranty. I think it was $90.

Yea, I read those same reviews on the Craftsman. Kinda surprised me, Craftsman is usually a solid tool. I may look into this Kobalt...

My older Craftsman 3/8" bar-type, 3/8" clicker, and 1/2" clicker have been fine and so is my 1/4" Gearwrench. I wouldn't be afraid of the Kobalt, either.

Craftsman in the new leader in China made tools. I no longer buy them except the basic hand tools like wrenches and sockets.
