You should be fine with that. I towed a 6x12 uhaul last year. It was 1700lbs dry and I loaded it and the jeep to the hilt then towed it 400kms thru the mountains. I was probaly heavier that I Gould have been but it did pretty good.

I tow a 2010 Funfinder 16x with my JKU. However, the trailer is for sale because we haven't camped as much as we would like to. We live in Central California. Here's the link with pics:

I agree, you should be fine. I have a 2012 JKU with auto, 373 gears & 35's and it hauls an 18' pop up camper loaded to the hilt pretty easy.

If you have 3.21 gears, you can only tow up to 1000 lbs. If you have 3.73 or 4.10 gears, you can tow up to 3,500 lbs. The above info is only for JKU.

I have a 12 JKU Sahara with the standard tow package and 3.21's. Just got back from a 3000 round trip from Cleveland to SanibelCaptiva towing my small trailer. The tow rating on mine is 2000 lbs, not 1000 lbs. The loaded trailer weighed in at 1500 lbs, I set the cruise at 73 mph, and got an average 16.8 mpg by hand calculations. The trans dropped down to third gear going up WV hills and to fourth on a lot of grades. If I could have gotten the 373's and max tow, it could have easily handled the 3500 lbs rating. If going with a Rubicon and max tow, you get 4.10's and the same 3500 lbs rating. Your planned trailer should be fine with the max tow package but not the standard. I really didn't even notice my trailer back there, had plenty of power to even pass as necessary, the trans just kicked down as needed. Also, I had rubicon wheels and tires if that matters

I have an 08 JKU Rubi and have not problems with my trailer. It has a gtwr of #4400, loaded with extra water, gas and generator, and many ice chests full of beer, food and ice. My hitch is rated at 9k lbs, I have air springs to level the load, and a digital brake controller. Brakes are key, as is a good hitch. I recommend the Hensley, no sway with this hitch. It's expensive but worth the cost.
Cheers

What year is your Jeep? It will handle it fine either way but the 2012 is night and day better when it comes to power. I regularly tow a 3500 lb boat (including trailer weight) with my non unlimited and it does fine. Just make sure the trailer is "set up right" you don't have too much tongue weight as the rear springs are a bit soft and you don't want to unload the front end. Use common sense, the drivetrain is up to the task on the 2012 to tow far more than the vehicle is rated for effortlessly. Also, someone once told me not having a top on the vehicle can mess with trailer stability. Don't know if that is true or not.
