Default TPMS Malfunction

Was going out to dinner the other night, and about half way there, my TPMS light came on and started flashing for a minute or 2 and then lit up solid and stayed lit. Came back out to go home, and it never came on again, and that was 3 days ago. I checked my owners manual out, and according to that, there was a fault that occured in the system, otherwise, if it would have been a tire, it would have just come up, and stayed on, rather than flash for awhile. Anybody know what causes this, whats usually the problem? I'm not gonna worry to much unless it does it again, just curious.

Sometime mine does that. Usually happens early in the morning when the temperture is a tad cooler. Sometimes it is off in the evening when I come home from work.

Someone at work said theirs (not a jeep) does that, their dealership said it is the temperture.

There was someone else who posted on here saying that his TPMS would light up everytime he drove by the airport. I believe there was some interference with radio waves, I think that's how they work, and his computer thought the tires were low when they weren't.

I don't have TPMS on my Jeep but from everything I've read about them, they seem like more of a pain in the ass than a benefit. Especially if you air up/down a lot for offroading. You're going to know what your tire pressure is and you're not going to need an idiot light to tell you!

Mine came on all the time just as you described. My dealer had to replace the TPMS module.
Bring both keys with you when you go. It takes less than an hour if you call ahead and tell the service manager you're coming.

Another idea.. don't forget to check the spare tire pressure. Had my 4Runner do the same thing one time and asked dealer about it when I went in. Intermittant light usually on cold mornings and first thing after sitting a while. Turns out the spare was little low on air.. causing the TPMS to trigger. Duh.. never thought about the stinkin spare.

Mine came on when the air temps cooled. We have speed bumps in our neighborhood. I find if I hit them at anything higher than 25 mph the TPMS light will shut off

I hate TPMS. What a horrible idea
