Default Transfer case Question

I m sure this has been asked before.
Sometimes its hard to get the transfer case into N for towing.
After towing our 09, with auto tranny, behind the MH, sometimes it is hard to get the transfer case from N back into 2 HI.
On occasiion, I got into 4 LO and drove it a little ways then got it to shift into 2 HI.
My question, is this normal or is something wrong with the linkage or ???
Thanks for the replies

You're probably just having to roll it a bit to get the teeth to line up? I have never towed my JK, but the manual has a few sections that could apply.

(Towing section)
NOTE: When shifting out of transfer case N (Neutral)
on automatic transmission equipped vehicles, turning
the engine off may be required to avoid gear clash.
(4wheel drive operation section)
4H to 4L or 4L to 4H
With the vehicle rolling at 2 to 3 mph (3 to 5 km/h), shift
an automatic transmission to N (Neutral) or depress the
clutch pedal on a manual transmission. While the vehicle
is coasting at 2 to 3 mph (3 to 5 km/h), shift the transfer
case lever firmly to the desired position. Do not pause in
transfer case N (Neutral).

I've had that happen sitting flat in the garage. Roll/rock it back and forth so the gears can line up.

Mine goes into neutral pretty easy, but it is very hard getting it out of neutral back into 2H. Really don't have the option of moving it, since it is still connetced to the motorhome by the tow bar.

Can't release the tow barfirst, or it will roll away

I try it for a while, and then for some reason it will work.

At first my Tcase was stiff, set the ebrake start the jk, take it out of park to neutral
while shifting the Tcase rock the auto from neutral to rev then to drive back to neutral
that worked for me good luck

If you put on the parking brake you can take off the tow bar and the jeep won't roll away. Don't pull on the transfer case handle too hard or you will break the cable. It is a common problem. Or at least the clip at the end of the cable breaks.
