Default velcro strap?

I bought my 2008 Unlimited Sahara soft top used and I didn't get the velcro straps with it. In the manual it shows that you use that strap to fasten the folded soft top bars down to the sides of the Jeep.

I've done without them so far without any issues. Could there potentially be a problem with not using them? Are they used for anything else?

I was reading in another thread (that I can't seem to find right now) that you use them to strap the top to the sound bar or something?

Can someone fill me in on this?

I lost mine somewhere... Maybe somebody can post a part number??? I've been using rope in the meantime...

As for the use: They keep your top secure... So that in sunrider position, the top isn't flapping all over...

I use velcro cable straps (used to neatly bundle electrical cables/computer cables/etc. together) that I bought at Radio Shack. They work great. You could probably find them anywhere else that sells electronic or computer parts.

Does anyone have pics of where they are supposed to strap when in the sunrider position? I have used them quite a few times but can't see where they are supposed to strap to the bow or sound bar. I just strap the top and bottom to themselves???? Is that right?

x2 please

I'd like to see where they're used as well. Pictures would make this much easier.

I think those little ball bungee cord things would probably work pretty good in place of the velcro straps as well.

Does anybody ever strap the top to the sound bar? I could've sworn I read that somewhere here...

Unlike in the rear during a full fold down, there isn't a slot to wrap the velcro around - you just wrap it around the folded frame since the rest of the soft top is still locked in.

Alright I'm doing it right. For some reason I thought there was a slot to put the straps through.

Default Replacement velcro

I just went to the local fabric store and bought some 2" wide velcro that has hook on one side and loop on the other,( so it will stick to itself ), and cut a couple of pieces off that. Worls perfectly and was cheap.
Think it was like $5 a metre.
