Water in engine
I have to laugh at people that blindly drive off into water and destroy there 30-40k jeeps. I hope you get it running, but it will never be the same. That's why insurence company's total flooded vechicals.
With all of the baffles in the mufflers, bends and turns in the tubing, and the cat converter, it takes water quite a while to displace all of the exhaust gas in the system and works its way back up and into the engine from that direction.
If it's not hot where you're located, suggest electric heaters to speed up the drying out in addition to the de-humidifier.
I didn't blindly drive into water. It was at the bottom of my doors, trying to back up and it sunk. Things happen and vehicles can be replaced .
worst case scenario here, get full coverage, and drive it up to the roof into water somewhere if it doesnt dry out and run right. this way it'll be considered totalled and you can get a replacement.....
I realize it was a stupid move everyone and I wouldn't have done it if I knew. Being insulted doesn't bother me but thank you to everyone who had actual good advice.
This happened Saturday so I'm giving it till Tuesday before I start it again or plug the battery terminals back on. I currently had a dehumidifier in the jeep and a heater so fingers crossed.
come on guys give the dude a break..
anyone that wheels has ended up in some type of situation that was worse than what you thought it was.
definitely unplugging connectors is the way to go, water gets inside those "waterproof" pins.
anything under the dash that you know of you can unplug too..
the speakers.. - if you have the infinity or alpine system the AMP is located under the steering column and may have gotten wet too, unplug its connectors too.
I would change the trans, transfer case, and diff fluids.. it looks like you might have had water above the vent tubes of all those.
when you think things are dry enough, plug it all back in and start it up, read the codes from the computer as you go to help you determine which circuits mauy need work.
