Wheel Help
Hi, I understand there's plenty of topics on this subject already but I keep hearing conflicting information.
I have a 2011 Jeep Wrangler JK Sport. It's completely stock, no lift. I'm purchasing Firestone Destination A/T tires. 285/70R/17. I was told these should be fine without a lift.
The problem I'm running into is the wheels. I search for 17s but I'm not sure what else is involved with the size. I called a local dealership that specializes in custom Jeeps, talked to tech support on TireRack.com and read multiple forum posts. Some told me I need a negative offset, others a positive and others a zero offset.
I'm looking to spend no more that $120 on each wheel. Would anyone have any recommendations on what to get?
Thanks in advance.

Are you looking for alum. or steel wheels? Your budget limit is low for aluminum wheels. A budget is a budget, I was under the same constraints $$$ wise. If you good go up to $140.00 per wheel you will increase your choices a lot. The people at TireRack know their stuff. Do you want the tires to be just inside the flares or sticking out? ETC. They should be able to guide you.
Contact member discount tire on here, excellent customer service and they can help you with any questions you might have. Even more important, is AFTER the sale they still provide excellent service. Can't recommend them enough.
Thanks for the replies! I'll definitely look into both suggestions.
A couple of follow up questions...
1. Will 285/70R/17 tires for sure even fit? Or should I be looking smaller?
2. Are those Firestone Destination tires decent? I've searched the forum and heard some good things. I commute to my fire house every 4 days in DC(from Baltimore) So I'm definitely looking for A/T tires.
3. Would a leveling kit help? Like I said, I'm on a budget but I saw this one. Teraflex Wrangler Leveling Kit 1155200 (07-17 Wrangler JK) - Free Shipping
I just don't want to go so cheap that I'm going to regret all of this and have to replace it anyway in the future. I should also add that living in the city, I don't really off road. I would just like something decent for snow and the option of a little off-roading in the future.
Thanks again for the replies!

I just lifted mine this weekend. IMO, I would do a quality suspension lift over a leveling kit because of the work involved just to do that. I used the AEV 2.5xt on mine and I'm in love with everything about it so far. As for tires, look into Coopers. I have the Stt pros and I'm very impressed, the A/T have to be an excellent option.
I found these on tire rack.

They are 17x8.5 with 20mm offset. Backspace is 5.55. The TireRack support said that I needed the 20mm offset. Is that true? Or should it be closer to 4.5? They mentioned 4.5 would not work without a lift.

Just a warning, Tirerack's free road hazard protection does not apply to any LT tire, even if it says on your receipt that you got free road hazard. When you try to make a claim they will direct you to the fine print buried deep in their website that states that the road hazard can not be claimed on any LT tire, and then tell you you are SOL and to have a nice day. Ask me how I know. Just avoid the headache and go through Discount Tire.

Tirerack screwed me on a brand new (less than 1000 miles; had it on the Jeep 4 days) LT315/70x17 GoodYear MTR K, now I feel it's my personal duty to warn others before they jump off in it.
Happy Jeeping!
