Bolt pattern is 5x5 (127 mm) and your going to want a rim with at least 4.5" backspacing to run larger tires. I would suggest 4" of BS, but 4.5" will suffice in most cases..

I run 16" MB72s on a '12 with 35" Duratracs. That's 4.5" backspace I think. I'm doing ok on the street with stock suspension right now. It wouldn't take much flex on the trial for me to rub, but that may be eliminated if I were to cut my fenders.

Both a lift and fenders are on my list for very near future upgrades.

Smaller wheels = cheaper tires and better MPG, generally. I like my 16s and would have probably gone 15 if I could have gotten Duratracs in that size.

Good luck!

I got stuck in BFE (Gila Bend, AZ) with a cut down tire on 17s. I was damn lucky to come away with a crappy used 17" tire that was almost the right size. Meanwhile there were lots of 16" tires available. Turns out the 16" tires also cost less.

When I change wheels and tires soon, it will be 16".
