Will a 2008 JKU freedom hardtop fit on a 2012?

I'm trying to see if I can put a 2008 3-piece hardtop on my 2012 JKU. I read a few threads on here that were unclear to me like this one: https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/stoc...imited-232869/
It sounds like to me that you can, but the two front panels may or may not fit properly. My understanding is that the footman loop on the Jeep itself will not be used? The other threads seem vague. If that's not what it is, I'm really not sure. Can someone tell me EXACTLY what the difference is? Will the two front panels latch or not? Will there be sealing issues? The more specific you can be, the better!

Thanks in advance for the help!

Short answer is YES.

I have a newer top (10-11) on my 09 JKU so you have a similar issue as me. The top has locating pins thru the sides that fit down into holes in the body rail. The two rear pins were not in the same location as the holes in the body sides of my 09. I just backed the pins out.

All the mounting bolts lined up fine. The center loop on the windshield was just a little off but works fine.

My 08 tops fit my 10 no issue, the 10 tops don't fit the 08 because they use the footman loop instead of the other top in the front center and the 08 loop is centered while the 10 loop is shifted slightly to the side.

I installed a 2010 on my 2007, the only thing different was position of the center lock down by the rear view mirror..I had to move my Foot man Loop over to accommodate the top locking lever. The only Part I needed was the new trim, I was told be several on here that I did not really need it..But I am anal about things done just right.

2008 JK hard top fit...

Thanks for the pics... looks nice.

What I really was asking is if someone has put a 2008 JK hard top on a later year JK like a 2012 or 2013+. I wanted to get feedback on any wind noise issues and or leaks with the older clips on the 2008 (or 2007) Freedom hard top where the center clips of freedom panels that don't attach to the front window frame. The later 2010+ tops have the clips (as shown) that lip to the window frame to provide a better seal.
