Default Will Flash fix shift problem without replacing converter?

My JK doesn't really have much of a shudder. It just seems like it needs to shift and has a vibration at 40-45 mph at around 1400 rpm's. The whole vehicle doesn't shake badly or make a grinding noise like I've seen others describe. I'm wondering if just having the flash done to change the shift pattern will solve my problem. Has anyone had any luck getting their dealer to run the flash without replacing the torque converter?

I'm going to try and have the dealer do it this week. The tranny seems fine but at 1400 RPM (give or take) it seems to hunt a little almost like a misfire one one cylinder. The tach seems to stay dead steady just that the tranny is hunting for the correct spot or isn't locking up.

Please let me know if you can get them to do it.

Talked to the dealer today and he said he'd be able to do it. I've got an appointment on Thur. afternoon so we'll see how it goes. I don't have the rumble strip shudder so I'm hopeing the new software will match with the old converter ok. If all else fails I guess I can have the converter done later.

Does the shudder go away if you shift to neutral?

Haven't really had the shudder just not happy with the shift points and shift quality. Hopeing the updated software may help this.

Mine was the same way. Over the past few days I've started getting the shudder. Hopefully I can get a converter before it gets too bad. I've been told that this problem could effect my transmission.

UGHHHH. I hope mine doesn't start that. Maybe I should be having them do the converter to start with. It seems to have gotten better now that the temps have gotten in to the high 30's instead of the teens. I was really just looking to get better shift points, stop the minor surging in O.D. and get rid of the bad flare shift between the 1-2 up shift. But if I'm just delaying the inevitable I'm going to ask them about ordering up the converter and just be done with it. I'm sure they won't have it so I'm still going to try and have the flash done so I should be able to tell you how that works first.

I just had mine flashed on 02/12. My problem is, going uphill, about 1500 rpm, it feels like it's going to stall - and shudders - if I accelerate, it goes away. I had the flash done, but the converters are on backorder, so I'm waiting for mine to come in. It still shudders, as expected; until the converter is replaced. The flash did seem to improve the shifting, accelerating... now I can do the quarter-mile with the best of them!

Well I took it in and they had it for about a 1/2 hour and then the flash wouldn't update because they didn't have the latest software. They will be getting there stuff updated and then call me back to have it done. They seem to be honest and were kind of embarrassed that they couldn't get it done because of there equipment. So I'm still in a holding pattern to see what happens.
