Default windows and cold weather

are there any tricks to put the rear and side windows on in cold weather?

im in florida, we are not suppose to get this cold. it diped down to 25 early in the week and looks like its goiong to stay 15-20 rest of week into next week. i tried to put them on but cant get them to strecth down enough to snap in. i can bring the windows inside but no garage to to warm up the soft top. it took me almost 2hours just to get the top on in 20 deg temp. went to bed and it was 60, then boom this damn cold front. gotta love global warming.

am i just going to have to suck it up and deal with it. i wlready ripped the top from tugging and pulling, i dont want to mess up the windows as i saw on another thread about dont mess with under 35 deg.

When I have to open or close the windows, I start the zipper then fit the rest of the window. Then I only have to fight with the zipper, putting a pull string on makes it a bit easier but you can do it with just the tab. How did you tear the top?

well i can get the sides zipped on, but its too tight to snap the bottom in and to snap into the side plastic along the door. then if i snap first and try to zip, the window wont even reach the top. its like the cold temp has shrunk the entire soft top. i have never had trouble untill now with this cold front. i will tie a pull tab on the rear and see if that helps, for some reason i cant even zip the rear.

it is the original top from 07 so it had some wear on it, but the spot that tore was ok before. its on the driver side rear section, was pulling on it to snap into the body and it just started tearing and another spot above driver side side window. im assuming it became too britle in the cold temp. i know the sun, hot temps, and salt air here in florida can reak havok, so maybe its just time for a new top.

Try also warming up the windows if you are afraid they are going to crack, any little bit of streach will help out. They are really tight when they are cold. You could also try starting up the jeep and turning on the heater wwith blankets over the window openings to keep the heat in. The top gets quite warm if you have it blowing from the vents. Something else to try.
Cheers

i had to park mine in a carwash and close the doors to the wash for a while to help get it warmed up enough to zip. guy that owned the carwash thought i had lost my mind just sitting there. i ran the hot water and washed the lower part of the jeep while i was waiting.

It was pretty funny, there i sat with the top half down in light snow, the big glass doors to the wash closed, windows dangling off the rollbars with the seat back listening to the radio...

best part it was before work, like 6am.

seems like if it is stupid~funny i have managed to pull it off at one point or another

They dont recommend removing or putting the windows back in if its under like 35* or something like that, read in another post in here someones window that litterally cracked in half when it was like 20*. Just a heads up, it would suck to get stuck with a broken top in this frigid sh*t

I sure hope you guys are talking C and not F. I was always taught to try not to mess with the top less than 70deg F. I can certainly tell a difference in putting back up if it is less than that. PITA. Another thought is to find a heated shop....ask them if you can let the jeep hang out for a while in the heat to warm the top up enough to fit correctly to get windows in. Not worth tearing/stretching your top out if you can heat it up.

I, too, think the heater/blanket idea is GREAT!!

Some days you don't get a choice when you have to open or close the windows. . So did you get your windows closed?
