Default Windshield light bracket gasket/buffer

Wondering what has worked best for a gasket/buffer between the brackets and the paint? Ready to install and need to sort this out before I end up rubbing off paint.

Thx!

I asked the same thing last week and got a few good ideas. The best was gorilla tape (like duct tape) but a little more padded and black. Two layers of that on the brackets, with the plastic, non sticky side towards the jeep seemed to work well for me.

I was wondering about that as well, I would like to find some sort of recycled clear rubber sheet and cut out the gasket.?!

I just used a piece of inner tube. Rubber makes a great protector!

I used the white foam 'paper' wrapping that the brackets were wrapped up in the box with. I cut it to fit. Not as good as rubber, but I obviously had it in my hand at the moment and it's better than nothing I guess!

3M Scotch 77 Electric Arc Proofing Tape. Thin and rubbery comes in a roll. Works great for this.

This is exactly what I used also. Just cut an old tube and then trimmed the excess once all the bolts were tightened.
