I don't know what this wire is and where it plugs in. Help please!

What year Jeep? How many pins? Wire colors? A better picture of the connector may help.

I can't find any single gray wires on my 2014 in that area.

Using a volt meter or test light is it a hot wire when the key is on? If it was aftermarket it may have been a power source of some kind.

Well that box with the toggle certainly is. It looks a lot like a Battery Tender connector with the ground pin missing.

was it towed behind a motorhome per chance? My neighbor pulls his wrangler behind his motorhome and he has a similar setup.
