Default Zipper maintenance under warranty?

I just rolled over 2k miles on my 2008 JK and the zipper connecting the back window to the hardtop is broken. it looks like the teeth are bent and it will no longer unzip past a certain point. i did a search for this and didn't find any existing threads. has anyone else had this problem? do you know if the dealer will cover this under warranty? i undertsand that zippers break from time to time, but at 2k miles when i've really only taken the back window off 5-10 times? is there a preferred way to unzip so that it doesn't happen again? thanks.

wow mine just broke also and not on the window side, mine actually has about an inch missing off the passenger side. I'm right at 3500 miles but haven't taken the time to go by the dealer yet.

i definetly plan on taking it in and having them look at it, just wasn't sure what my chances would be and wanted to see if anyone else had any luck with the dealers. so thanks for the tip. like i said, just wondering if i am doing something wrong too. i mean, zippers aren't exactly complicated, but if there is a preferred way to zip?

You're trying to zip a window into the hard top?
Maybe that's your problem. Do they really zip in?

zipper maintenance would not be covered under warranty... maintenance is maintenance.. but it sounds like yours has a defect, and yea thats covered.. they have no reason not to cover it.

take it in, and see what else they can mess up fixing your original problem while not fixing your original problem

Take it in, my was jumping teeth and not closing all the way. Dealer looked it over and ordered the new one with no quesitons or issues. The quality of your dealer will have a lot to do with how you are treated!!

I'm about to be on top number 3 in just over a year. So far, it has always been the rear window zipper and has been covered.
