JL Jeep Wrangler to Feature Aluminum Doors and Hood

When it comes to the 2018 Jeep Wrangler, the letters JL make sense, but these characters may not: C6A1, 6022, and A951. It's OK if they don't right now. They soon will.

i have no issues with an alum body as long as its still sitting on a steel frame and suspension pieces.

I personally welcome it.

Lange Rovers have been aluminium since 1948.

Default Corroded Aluminum

I am against it until Jeep can make aluminum parts that don't corrode. My two JKs, 2008 and 2012, both had aluminum door hinges that corroded underneath the paint. Don't know why they just don't anodize the door hinges!

they only do that because of the two disimilar metals coming in contact with one another. galvanic crosion. if its all alum that wont be an issue or if the mating surfaces to other metals are treated / painted.

One of the major problems people face with off roading the JK models is that they are a lot heavier than the TJ models. With the aluminum hood and doors it will help with the weight and make the JL a better off road choice. Like stated above as long as they stick with the steel frame and suspension components then I'm fine with it.
