Default Which One??

May be getting a new Jeep. Trouble is the engineer in me says 4XE, Utility in me says JT Diesel Rubicon, Simplicity in me says JLUR ExRecon and just plain the same in me says JLUR Diesel. Anyone got some experience good or bad on Diesels or with the Extreme Recon pkg.

4XE is a full time 4x4 system if that matters. I have noticed a lot of used 4XE's out there so maybe they are not that well received and the 15 mile range has too little for those wanting the benefit of the electric mode. Performance specs are right in line with the 392. JT's are ugly and just too long. Personally I would not buy any new jeep as the prices are stupid and you can get way nicer daily drivers for the same money. If they offered the diesel in the 2 door I would be tempted. I guess what you are going to do with it is the real question.

Lots of a new technology for sale tells me they are trouble!! Exec Chairman rode 600kms in mine with whirring mud tires and swaying from a lift and said I need to lease a new car as I was lifted to CEO recently. He said you like Jeeps - get a new one so won't cost me anything and I will build a clause that if I leave or get fired I take the Jeep with me. I am leaning to a Diesel JLUR. They have the JT front axle as well.

The person that sticks out in my head that has had all of those is Brad from TrailRecon on YouTube. I find he gives some honest opinons and he's got some decent all-around use to form those opinions with. He's been through JL 2dr, 4dr, diesel, JT, and now 4XE. The thing that sticks out in my head about the JT is it's ok, but doesn't really excel at anything in particular that it tries to be/do. Seems I recall him thinking the diesel was gonna be the snizzle, but in the end it was kinda meh. One aspect of that which stands out is the smaller fuel tank due to now having to have DEF tank. I think on his 4XE he's claiming 24-mile range on electric only. Definitely notes the weight and storage space given the batteries sit under the rear seat and those don't fold down as nicely with the batteries there. All that just kinda going from memory skimming over videos in the past.

IMO, a new JLUR is the best option. I have to think the 4XE will get better in future years and it's a bit too early to dive into that IMO, but I also always lean toward the more complex something is, the more there is to break and the harder it is going to be to deal with.

Still going to keep the JK? Congrats on the bump up the ladder!

Doubt if I will keep the JK. JL will also go bush as that is what they are made for. And my JK is not scratched up that bad. Will get white I think but not ready to spring right now with all this Russia Ukraine thing going on. If I do go JLUR it will certainly be an Extreme Recon model.
