On my way to work this morning I found this poor guy stuck, he slide from the road in to the deep snow due to ice, while he attempt to stop at the stop-sign...

It sure felt good to be able to help!

*according to the forecast, More snow is coming, we are not done yet!

The way I found him:

Good to hear the jeep at work! That's why everyone should have tow hooks on their vehicles....saves the hassle and calling the tow trucks.

This guy didn't had tow hooks on his SUV...
I had to to pull him out from his axle, slowly...

*(NOT AXEL, my bad, I meant undercarriage, sorry about that...)

My Jeep pull that guy like "Nothing", I was so amazed!

I am not sure it was the axle...
The owner of the vehicle hook the tow strap, as I told him that I have no experience or knowledge when it comes to "vehicle recovery"

I dragged him out slowly...
No sudden/jerky movements! nice and easy

Nice work. Glad to see people helping out. The roads will be super slick now that the plows are out and you'll probably see a lot more like this.

I need to go get a good tow strap now that I have a Wrangler and not my old Jeep Gaytriot.

Good job
But, how is one supposed to pull out a stuck vehicle if they have no recovery points?? I know the axle is a big no no.

Tow truck! LOL
Seriously, be careful... if you damage the stuck vehicle, MPI considers it an at fault accident for you.

IMHO.....

many vehicles have some sort of frame mounted point that you can pull from.

if they have a hitch you can always put your extra hook or d-ring in or if you don't have an extra just put the strap loop in the reciever and then put the pin through the loop.

If they don't have either, and you are pulling off of an axle or control arm or whatever then you risk both your safety and damaging the other vehicle which you can be liable for. That, or if the recovery is too difficult, it's best to make sure they are ok and they can wait for the tow truck.

I never let someone hook up their own vehicle without looking at how it is hooked up, unless I know them of course. 99% of people have no idea where to hook up a recovery strap, just watch, they do the "I'll try and move this piece of metal with my hand, oh it didn't move, must be strong, I'll hook it up here". I've recovered a guy that put the strap on his tie rod when he had factory hooks sticking out of his F150's bumper, I'm glad I checked!

Don't get me wrong, I like to see people helping others, and I pull more than my fair share of people out of the snow, but you have to keep these things in mind to protect yourself

Good job! I love pulling people out of the ditch or snow
as far as hooking up your strap, worst case scenario is to at least wrap it around the frame, or through a hole in the frame, as long as it does not slide off and rip something else off. It's only happened once(I don't remember what kind of vehicle it was)that I could not find a place to hook up. I think we just shoveled and pushed
