Personally, I like to see a set of rock rings that have been well used.

Today we prepped the Trail Jeeps JK to Moab. Travel mode includes Bestop half doors and uppers and the hard top bolted back in place for the drive over. Pretty cool huh?

Default PSC Big Bore XD Steering Box

Very excited about these! This is the new PSC Motorsports Big Bore XD steering box for the Jeep JK. It has a larger 42mm sector shaft and provides more turning torque to turn big tires with ease with no assist.

Ram assist isn't for everyone and this seems like the PERFECT solution for daily drivers running big tires! What do you guys think?

I like it and think it's about time! Just wish they'd port it for those who do run ram assist. I know it's in the works so we'll see it someday. Definitely like the idea of going ram-less on a daily driver. 😉

I would like to hear some real world reviews on this and thoughts of the XD steering box vs hydro assist for those who don't plan on going over a 37" tire.

From the people I've talked to who are running the box they love it! No timing issues like you get from the current ram assist systems. Turns with ease and some are running 40s. I'm most interested in a XD box that's ported for my ram assist system or a box like Howe makes which has steer stops built into it! dde09

We've installed a couple and I we have been extremely impressed! Feels just like a JK!

I have lots of experience with ram assist. We install a lot of them. I have it on my truck, and for the record, I would do everything I possibly could do avoid ram assist on a DD. With the delay, the extra complexity, the wandering, while the ram assist is AWESOME on the trails, it has some less than desirable side effects on the daily.

The one thing that is a bummer about it is that we would still like to see sector shaft reinforcement on a JK that see's a lot of work in the dirt, ram assist or not, and none of the aftermarket manufacturers have a kit that is compatible, at least not yet. We are thinking about a way to make something work, so stay tuned...
