1. An SUV like no other

Jeep has just unveiled what is the most powerful and quickest production SUV to ever grace the world. The 2018 Grand Cherokee Trackhawk holds a 6.2-liter V8 heart that puts out 707 horsepower and 645-lb ft of torque. In case you're wondering how long it takes to say hit to sixty mph that would be a scant 3.5 seconds.

2. Another hawk but different

We're guessing that the name Trackhawk is a twist on the off-road centric Trailhawk with the vehicle being one that is tuned for twisties and straightaways. Underneath all of the go fast bits lies the basics of an SRT Cherokee to let you know that Jeep meant business with this thing. If that 707 horsepower number sounds familiar it's because it's the same engine from the Dodge Hellcat. With that number in mind, think about how the new Trackhawk will hit a top speed of 180 miles per hour and do a quarter mile in 11.6 seconds.

3. Plush interior

While you're enjoying the Nappa leather seating with suede inserts you can gaze up and out of an optional panoramic sunroof. Other niceties one can look forward to in the speedy SUV are active noise cancellation, berber floor mats, and of course, Trackhawk logos embroidered in multiples locations. There is also a drive mode that will be familiar to anyone who's driven an SRT: Salec-Track. This will enable drivers to select from five modes ( Auto, Sport, Track, Tow, and Snow) in order to alter the engine's performance for the current conditions.

4. Sitting pretty

On the suspension side, Jeep true to form represented for gearheads with Bilstein adaptive dampers, hollow stabilizer bars and gratuitous use of aluminum in the front / rear suspension. Along with coil-sprung on a short-long arm independent front and rear multilink independent rear suspension puts the Trackhawk up to .88 of grip on the skidpad. Those big wheels you see up above are 20x10 inches that are finished in titanium with a satin chrome center cap. If you aren't feeling those, there will be lightweight forged aluminum wheels as an option.

5. The price you may pay

The Trackhawk gets dressed up for the world with a new front more breathable bumper that oozes aggression. Out back, there are black chrome quad exhausts that peek out from a thick gloss black valance. Pricing for the new Grand Cherokee Trackhawk hasn't been unveiled yet, but if it's anywhere near what other roided up SUVs go for, then expect somewhere in the neighborhood of 80 to 90 grand. You shouldn't have to wait too long however as the Trackhawk will be in your nearest Jeep showroom later this year.
