5 Pics of the Hybrid Yuntu Concept

Jeep has introduced a new crossover concept called “Yuntu." It takes the company’s current design into a bolder, much more contemporary direction with unique style markings like horizontal LEDs connected to the grill and chiseled surfaces.

1. Same Jeep grille

Jeep enthusiasts will take comfort in knowing that despite the Yuntu’s drastic change in style from other Jeep vehicles, there are still some Jeep elements to the car. Most notably, the seven-slot grille on the front.

2. Sleek design

The Yuntu’s roof panel and its A-pillars are blacked out to reduce visual mass. A thin strip of chrome trim runs from the side mirrors to the top of the D-pillars, giving the Jeep a somewhat elegant touch.

3. Suicide doors

To get into the Yuntu, you pass through a pair of suicide doors – not a novel concept, but worth noting nonetheless.

4. 7-seater

Jeep hasn’t officially revealed what the interior of the Yuntu will look like, but early displays of the model suggest the vehicle will hold seven passengers across three rows of seats. Presently, there are no seven-seater models in the Jeep line-up, and the company hasn’t sold one since 2010 (the Commander).

5. Plug it in

Those who pay attention to detail will note PHEV emblems on the Yuntu’s door. This confirms the vehicle will use a plug-in hybrid drivetrain, a technology Jeep wants to bring to the market in the near future.
