1. Jeep CJ-2A

Before the CJ-2A, Jeeps were known to be just military vehicles. In 1945, the very first civilian Jeep was introduced, and it wasn't much different from its older military brother. The Jeep CJ-2A was in production from 1945 to 1949, and it is popular for its side-mounted tire, the seven slots grille, and many leftover parts from the war. This is what started it all.

2. Jeep CJ-6

The Jeep CJ-6 wasn't as popular as it is today when it was first introduced back in 1956, and it lasted until 1975. This model is considered by many to be one of the greatest Jeeps ever made, mainly because of its simplicity. In fact, the CJ-6 was the last Jeep to not have an automatic transmission as an option. This legend came with three engine options: the base 232, the optional 258 inline six, or the 305 V8, which developed 150-horsepower. The strong-framed CJ-6 has a reputation for being a rugged, stripped down, off-road monster, and it is one of the greatest representations of the Jeep brand.

3. 1987 Jeep Wrangler

Although the square headlights are the least popular headlights, the 1987 Jeep was the very first Jeep to have the Wrangler logo on it. Aside from being the very first Wrangler, this year also marked the sale of the Jeep company to Chrysler. People often criticize the square headlights, simply because they compare the Wrangler to the CJs; however, this is the original Wrangler, which means the square headlights are more Wrangler than the circular ones.

4. 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee

After the popular Jeep Wagoneer left its mark, it was time for a change. Enter the Grand Cherokee. In 1993, the Jeep Grand Cherokee made its debut as a mid-size luxury SUV. The very first Grand Cherokee featured a powerful 5.2-liter V8 engine, as well as extremely capable suspensions. The Grand Cherokee kept numerous of its characteristics throughout the years, proving that you can be both luxurious and capable.

5. 2000 Jeep Cherokee

Perhaps one of the most familiar-looking Jeep Cherokees, the 2000 Jeep XJ was the year this model had reached its full peak. This vehicle was equipped with a 4.0-liter engine, 8.25 rear and Dana 30 front axles, and it was the go-to car when you want extreme off-road capabilities, without sacrificing any luxury; not to mention a visually-pleasing, boxy shell. For the true Jeep enthusiasts, the word "Cherokee" is associated with this model.

6. 1997 Jeep Wrangler TJ

The year 1997 marks the timing of the Jeep Wrangler for on-road use. After a six-year investment, the TJ received a major upgrade, making it finally comfortable on the road and still capable off the road. The '97 Wrangler received the same coil springs from the Grand Cherokee, which got rid of the annoying loud noises it used to make on the road. This was the beginning of the domesticated Wrangler that could be a great daily driver, as well as an off-road killer on the weekends.

7. 2017 Jeep Wrangler

Every Wrangler that was ever built has played a major role in the evolution of the brand, and the result is the latest Jeep Wrangler. The 2017 Wrangler is by far the most capable, the most comfortable, and the most versatile Wrangler to ever wear the badge. Equipped with a 3.6-liter V6 engine, the 284-horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque can do it all. Features like the Tru-Lok Locking Differentials, the Sway Bar Disconnect System, and the Dana 44 Heavy-Duty Axle make this Jeep the most off-road capable SUV on the face of the earth; and the premium seating, UCONNECT Navigation, and Premium stereo makes it a great choice for just about anyone. This is the best Jeep thus far.
