Worthy Rig

Each month, we here at JK Forum give our members a chance at eternal glory. OK, so maybe we shouldn't go that far. But every member has a chance to submit their own personal ride for consideration to win the top spot in our Featured Jeep of the Month contest. And our April winner, TheDirtman, has one seriously awesome rig worthy of this prestigious prize.

Too Much Work?

The owner of this awesome JK lives in Reno, Nevada, so it's no surprise that he wanted to transform it into something capable of ripping up the desert. And as he acknowledges, perhaps he went a bit too far. "Cut and hacked to allow for massive suspension travel. Hundreds of hours cutting, trimming, and designing. I should have just built a buggy."

Short List

Hilariously enough, it's easier to list what isn't stock on this Jeep rather than what mods have been performed. And that list is pretty short - AM/FM CD radio, six-speed manual transmission and that's it.

Where's the Beef?

The rest of this rig is pretty much a laundry list of beefy aftermarket parts. Starting with the suspension, which features Dana 60 front and 80 rear axles with ARB 35/40 splines. Gears are 5.38 all round, with a custom long-arm setup at both ends.

Long Travel

There's plenty of suspension travel here, 18 inches to be exact. For that, we can thank the 2.5-inch King coilovers with 18-inch triple bypass shocks. King also supplied the hydraulic bump stops, while Atlas provided the four-speed transfer case.

Wrap It Up

Throw in a custom cage, PRP Podium seats, custom aluminum fenders, chopped up bumpers, and a 20-gallon fuel cell, and you've got one custom rig worthy of the FJOTM badge. So be sure and head over here to check out the entire mods list, as well as a video of this killer rig in action. And if you want to submit your own Jeep for future consideration, you can do so by heading over here
