Special Edition

When we first laid eyes on what Jeep is calling the Renegade Loki Edition, our immediate reaction was... confusion. Lots of confusion! The Renegade, by industry standards, has to be near the end of its run, having been in production since 2014. But the manufacturer formerly known as FCA, now Stellantis has displayed a pattern of milking every last drop out of a platform before they approach a redesign. And they do that through introducing new and exciting special editions, like this one!

Not So Loki

The problem with the Loki-themed Renegade, however, is that it's very difficult to see any Loki reference with the design of the vehicle. We're sure diehard Marvel fans will correct us if we're wrong, but doesn't Loki kind of have a green color scheme going on? Why Jeep decided to go with blue on this special edition of the Renegade is beyond us!

Tough to Distinguish

Other than the fact that the color and material design doesn't provide any sort of a hint into the Loki association, the car doesn't appear to display any badging to indicate as much either. At least when the Dawn Of Justice Renegade came out, it had an appropriate Batman/Superman badge on the tailgate.

Exclusive to Italy

Nonetheless, the Renegade Loki Edition will only be sold in Italy, where the vehicle is actually manufactured. The small SUV is based on the Limited trim, and includes the Function package. It will be available to Italian buyers with the turbo diesel powertrain or as a 4xe. So it's packed with goodies, including 18-inch wheels. But still not to much of a connection with the god of mischief.

Confusion

When the long-running Challenger or Charger gets new editions, it's usually with insanely powerful V8s. So the fact that the Stellantis marketing and design departments have seemingly missed the mark with this special edition Renegade is a bit of a surprise. Some folks will be quick to jump to conclusions, calling this a lazy marketing attempt. But we're left with a final question: How did Marvel and Disney agree to this?
