I have another question. I was driving through a puddle of water and the splash caused the engine to shut off. I checked the air filter box to make sure no water was in there. I let it sit for about five minutes and it started up with no problems.
Is there something else I should check besides the air filter, or did I even need to check the air filter? Also what most likely caused the engine to cut off?

From reading this and your other post, maybe you would have been better off buying a boat.

no idea why it shut off. maybe you just stalled it?

if your filter is wet you need to determine whether or not you just got it wet, or if water actually got into the motor.

if you have water in the motor (hydrolocked) you need to pull the spark plugs and turn the motor over with the starter to spit all the water out of the engine.

The puddle wasn't even a foot deep. I went through three times before with no problems. The last time I went through it a little faster (maybe 1 or 2 miles faster)but the splash was bigger. As soon as the splash hit the engine it died. The puddle was not deeper than eight inches.

Electrical short maybe. Maybe water got forced into the fuse block. There was a TBS / recall thing while ago about random shutoffs at certain RPM ranges and changing speeds. Other than those I got nothing.
