How About a Custom Hood Map Decal for Your Jeep?

Rubicon Decal

The new Jeep Performance Parts division has rolled out what’s sure to be a hit with owners wanting to add a more unique personalization feature to their Jeeps.

Highlighted at Chrysler’s annual “What’s New” program for journalists, Jeep and Mopar have teamed up to introduce hood decals that can be customized to display maps of everything from the Rubicon Trail to your home city.

The add-on can be designed at Mopar.com with the option of a variety of different color schemes and a few other details. The site even allows you to send the design order directly to a local dealer for installation.

How’s that for customization?

Made of 3M films, the custom feature grew out of feedback Jeep and Mopar got on the Mojo Wrangler, which features a custom decal map of Auburn Hills, Michigan where the Chrysler Group is headquartered.

“We put some graphics on our Mojo Jeep that went out to Moab this year and we got a lot of positive comments about the graphics that were put on it,” said Todd Beddick, manager of product planning for Mopar. “A lot of people said, ‘Hey, that would be really cool if I could do it for my house, if I could do it for my trail, or if I could do it for Moab.’”

The Jeep Custom Hood Decal is $295 plus installation and comes with a three-year warranty for fading or manufacturer defect. However, having it installed by an outside company voids the warranty on the installation process, which simply means that purchasing it and then having your brother-in-law try to put it on might be a bad idea.

That said, the only real downside is that the decals can only be fitted to the hoods of 2007-2015 Jeep Wranglers, 2014-2015 Jeep Cherokees, and 2011-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokees, but maybe it’ll give you another reason to go ahead and buy that new model you’ve been eyeing for a while.
