Jeep Drives FCA’s Profit Margins Up Nearly 30 Percent

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles execs might not want to start banking on those bonuses just yet, given the slump in sales Jeep had last month. But reports that the carmaker had a huge boost in third-quarter earnings, primarily due to Jeep’s global expansion, certainly suggest that there might be some nice gifts under some Christmas tree.

In fact, a huge boost might be putting it lightly. According to Bloomberg, FCA’s third-quarter earnings jumped up 29 percent, prompting the company to raise its 2016 profit forecast for the second time this year.

A huge part of that success is due to FCA’s strategy to shift its focus to vehicles that yield a higher-profit margin, like pickups and SUVs. Of course, Jeep is the main driving force behind the surge.

It all makes for an even stronger business case for the forthcoming Jeep pickup. Although, most of us here at JK Forum were sold on the idea when we first got wind of the new Jeep.
