How-To Spotlight: JK Recalls and TSBs

While Certainly Reliable, the Jeep JK Wrangler Hasn’t Gotten Through Life Without a Few Recalls

We would all like to believe that the beloved Jeep JK is without fault. Doing so helps us keep the high standard that we all believe in, and want to uphold. Unfortunately, though, the JK is not perfect.

The JK has been in production since the 2007 model year. That’s 10 years of various refreshes, updates and issues that have cropped up from time to time. When these items come up, there are recalls and technical service bulletins that get pushed out to owners and dealers. With the projected JL set to release as a 2018 model, it appears the JK’s list of issues will end soon.

The popularity of the Jeep Wrangler, even beyond the JK, is easy to see in the sales numbers. With more and more Jeeps on the road, issues are bound to rise. The challenges of increased production mean that the quality of a particular part or piece may accidentally be reduced. This week’s How-To Spotlight provides info on your particular year of JK, and any potential issues it may have.

One thing to keep in mind, though: the article should not be considered an all-inclusive list. If you’re concerned about a particular issue, you may want to do some research on your own as well. One of the quicker ways would be to touch base with your local Jeep dealership. All recalls and technical service bulletins are sent their way, even if they are not responsible financially for a particular repair. Hopefully your JK is in the clear, but it’s always good to find out for sure.
