Default About to buy a TJ today

Hey guys, I took a TJ home last night and I'm not entirely sure I want to buy it. It's an 06 X with 71k miles. Manual transmission, half doors, alloy rims, slightly larger tires than the stock spare. Towing package as well and vinyl side steps. The dealership is asking 17k for it.

I know there are some out there within a few hundred miles of me with more off road stuff on it like lights and/or bigger tires etc but idk if it's worth the drive or chance that those have been handled well since they've got the "off road" accessories.

What is your opinion?

That price seems high to me unless you want a TJ. You can find a 2012+ JK for that price with less miles. And have a better motor/vehicle/resale. This picture is just a quick sample of options I found without being very specific.

Texas is clearly the place to go to purchase a jk. In WI, a nice 2008 JKU is in the high teens

Thanks for the responses. I noticed today since I've been at work that the tread on the tires are at about 50% life. I've decided that if they will sell it WITH taxes and tags for 15k then I will buy it. If not then I'll walk away.

I wouldn't pay that much. Friend picked up a to last year with a full lift (mean all 8 adjustable arms with adjustable track bars and sway bar discos) lifted on 33's (new) for $7000

Wish I had that deal. Still at the dealership playing the number game at the moment.

Kelly Blue Book says $14,900 average based on good or better condition.

That's higher than Giraffe ass.

You can get TJs with that many miles for $15k or less. At $17K you need to buy a JK.
