Dash or overhead mounted CB
I want to put a CB in my jeep but idk where to mount it, I don't know much about them either, I have a smittybilt g.e.a.r overhead console so I thought about mounting one there, but I have also seen them mounted in the dash with a single din radio, I like the idea of both ways but what are the pros and cons to either and what CB would yall recommend putting in either place? I don't want to spend a lot of money on this by the way.

I have a Cobra 75WXST, so the power module hides under the console and the handset sits in the glovebox when not being used. There are brackets to mount the handset on the dash but I haven't convinced myself that the accessibility outweighs the look (my OCD nature I guess...lol).
As as the handset has all the controls on it I just pull it out and close the glovebox lid when I need to use it.
Ultimately go with what works best for you.

I have mine mounted overhead on the Smitybilt console. I like it up there so the speaker is up around ear level which makes it easier to hear with the top off. I have not experienced a CB in the dash, but I'd think it would affect the sound.

I experimented with overhead mount (hit my head too often) and with side of console mount (too close to my leg) but finally decided on a Cobra 75WX ST model and a dash mounted bracket from Cool Tech.

I have a full sized Cobra 29 LX that is mounted above the rear view mirror and attached to a rack. This is ergonomic for me and I can see the display and touch the scan button without looking etc.
I reiterate the logic on buying the a Cobra 75WXST for a nominal presence and still has great features.
