Can I hook up headrest monitors to my factory head unit?
I want to hook up monitors in the headrest of my 2007 wrangler for the kids on those long trips. I have a stock 6 disk cd changer and it says it is a DVD/mp3 player. I did a search and all I could find was info. on installing with MyGig head units.
Other than the monitors and a video cable what else will I need for this project?
Thanks for the help in advance

I have the same stereo. Mine came out of a Chrysler mini van. When you remove the stereo you will notice a plug slot but nothing plugged into it. Don't bother wasting money buying it from the dealer. There's a write up in here somewhere.. (I'll try to look for it right now) and it shows which two prongs you need to solder to (I didn't even solder). What I did was stab the prong into the end of a wire and do the same for the next one and filled the slot with hot glue. Works like a charm... Let me find the link.. Be right back

https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-w...part-1-a-3904/ but I suggest reading the whole thread, cause if I remember correctly, there was a little speculation on which of the two was the shield but either way.. Super great write up.

Ya, it's kind of an old thread, but I'll tell ya what.. I run doorless a lot and when I leave my jeep unattended, I feel better knowing my stereo looks like a plane ol' stock single disc player and would be less likely to be stollen vs it having a screen like the Mygig models. I didn't mount tv's in the head rest for the same reason, rather used the Velcro type tv's from Walmart and just ran the video "out" from the stereo to the video "in" to the tv's.

I am in the same boat too.
I have found an universal video and rear camera harness for wranglers (that works) on Amazon for $24 & free shipping (CHYRVD by PAC)
This harness is Plug and Play!
a few things to note:
1. video will play only in the external monitor while in motion, and on both in Parking.
2. Rear Camera need the dealer "Starscan" ($40-$70) to be activated, and only works when vehicle in Reverse.
I REALLY want to be able to connect more the one rear Camera to the Mygig (I have a rear camera on my RV as well) so I might be tempted to buy the Mygig Lockpic after all...
Why or why does it need to cost $230 before shipping
