Default Is our head unit bad?

Only the front tweeters on the dash work now. Nothing better on aux input. Tried disconnecting battery and it works for all of about 2 minutes then crapped out again. This is the basic one disc unit (not a my gig) from a 2008. Wondering if anyone has experienced this before. Want to make sure it's the head unit before we buy a replacement and find out it's something else.

Hard to say. I would check the wiring to the amp which is under the steering wheel area and make sure nothing is loose, and check all the fuses. If you do end up replacing the head unit, go aftermarket. Cheaper and will sound better as well.

Yeah we checked that too. Our drive to Moab and back was painful--nothing but wind noise from the half doors

If its only working for a few min. sounds like the protection circuit is turning on so the output IC doesn't fry. Look for a shorted wire or bad/shorted speaker.
