Silver Strike painfully cheap build thread

Good thread but your killing me.... Your idea of on the cheap is way different than mine. I winced at spending $3 for the beer bottle opener I bolted onto the front bumper.

So I know this thread doesn't get that many views but for this one post I wish every member would read it... In November I bought my JKU used of a lot it was built buy rocky ridge custom trucks had a lift wheels tires and a winch. Thought it was the ultimate off road machine and was ready to run any trail out there. I was wrong. The definition of a total newb. So as I became more active on the forum and realizing what I had was the definition of a mall crawler, but also kept seeing this guy jk505 posting, almost everything he posted I agreed with. Then one day I was reading a wheeling report and some guy was fussing over winching a stock TJ the whole day. Jk505 or Cody aka stickers stuck up for the guy in the TJ he said friendship is 99% of why he wheeled and I thought man this guy really gets it! So I sent him a couple of pm's asking him typical newb questions. He could have blown me off I didn't know crap. But he didn't and he slowly coached me through building this rig and it's far from done but it's not a mall crawler anymore. Throughout the build we developed one hell of a friendship. The kind you don't find often in life. I now count him as one of my closest friends. One of the first thing we discussed was a spider web shade. It's been a running joke because I've spent thousands of dollars but never did get my spider shade. I got home from work today and I found this setting on my bar. I was speechless. This my friends is what the jeep community is all about. So the next time a newb joins and starts asking stupid posts, be careful how you dismiss them, you could be missing out. Thank you JK505 Sent from my iPhone using JK-Forum

I don't even know where to start.... First off I busted the whole jeep apart Monday and started to strip for the raptor liner install. Tuesday I started the process of ripping up the sound deadening  I thought that I could use a tool for removing seam sealer from cars called a snap on crud thug, this thing is awesome. The sound deadening laughed in it's face! So I busted out the air chisel and it did wonders!! Then I straight line sanded all the area I wanted lined with 120 grit sand paper, cleaned the surface and had to work Wed. And Thursday.

I got off work at 7pm and drive home Thursday evening. When I pulled in the drive way I was looking at my phone as I pulled in the driveway and didn't notice till I got to the end of it that the person I was texting was standing in my drive way leaning on his jeep. None other than JK505. He and my wife worked out a surprise for him to come up and help us wrench all weekend! He lives 600 miles away! I couldn't have been more surprised if I'd woke up with my head stapled to the carpet. Sooo here we go!!!!!

So Thursday night we just chilled and let 505 relax from his 600 mile trek! Friday morning we woke up and hit it hard! We couldn't get into the paint shop till 5 so we wrenched on his rig from 8:30 till 5 I don't wanna spoil his build thread so I'll spare the details but man did we ever get a lot done!!!!
We got the paint booth open at 5 and started the process of prepping the interior for liner. Tapping and masking was a labor intensive process but needed to get a quality result. I had a lot of trouble trying to pic the color I wanted and everybody there decided that charcoal would look very nice so I tented it up, added 2 oz of silica to each mix and let it spray!!! It was nerve racking but the end result is super nice!!!!
