Default 3.8L 6 speed owners!

I was curious, what gear do you keep your jeep in at 40mph? Mine likes 4th but I normally put it in 6th so save gas but I have no power when I do that, what do y'all do? It's my first standard and I decided to keep it over an auto!

I live in a hilly neighborhood, so I keep it in 4th....but I'd shift to 5th or 6th if it was flat and I didn't have to stop anytime soon though.

I usually keep it In 3rd an it at 2000-2200rpm ill put it in fourth if flat an not to hilly but I'm rolling 35's with 3.21. But going from 4th to 6th you do save gas going down hill but you actually waste more gas when going to a higher gear with out the rpm. I'm sure when you give it gas in 6th the jeep just want to die on you!

Honestly keep it around 2000 rpm in gears an you will get better mpg then what your getting.

I Live in southwestern pa an it is quite hilly around me an I average 16-17 now with winter gas an right around 19 with summer blend an that mostly city I try to stay off the hwy cause I get worse but that's cause of my set up hope this helps

My 3.8L loves being in the 2,000 - 2,500 rpm range.

Use 6th. gear when you want if you need power drop down straight to 4th. or 3rd. gear.

I used 5th all the time on flat surfaces going 40. I can get 18-19 MPGs that way. Well before I got 35"s

My baby likes 4th in the low 40s, 5th in the high 40's. Up hill, usually need to drop it to third to get up to 40.... Feels like it struggles in the higher gears with out a nice rev out of the lower gears.
